The U.S. Census Bureau and the University of Texas System (UT) have signed a 10-year agreement that will allow for a fuller analysis of UT graduate outcomes and earnings.

Under this pilot partnership, the Census Bureau will provide UT with data from its Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics program (LEHD), which collects Unemployment Insurance quarterly wage record data from most states. Although UT already collects employment outcomes information about students who remain in Texas, this project will help track its students who move outside of the state. The program will supplement UT's existing in-state information, which is available via online tools seekUT and UT System Dashboard

The Census-UT pilot program should eventually provide more information on the utility of harnessing LEHD data for larger-scale research projects on postsecondary and workforce outcomes. The program is one of a number of recent efforts that involve federal agencies in building new data partnerships.
