Post-Collegiate Outcomes Initiative
The American Association of Community Colleges, the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities, and the American Association of State Colleges and Universities have formed a partnership to develop a framework and new tools for reporting student outcomes after college.
The "Post-Collegiate Outcomes Initiative" was formed in response to calls to improve transparency and accountability, and further demonstrate the value of certificates and degrees in a rapidly changing economic environment. The Initiative also aims to highlight the longer-term perspective of post-collegiate outcomes, as well as making measurements more inclusive to capture students who may have previously been left out of data analyses.
According to the Initiative, linking and using student data at schools and later after they have left those institutions has posed serious challenges for producing results that may be useful to compare state metrics and to assess individual institutions for the purpose of improving accountability.
The Initiative has been bringing together industry leaders and experts to produce the new framework and a "toolkit" for measuring post-collegiate outcomes. (WDQC's Director, Rachel Zinn, is a member of the PCO Oversight Committee.)
