Community College Funding and Workforce Development

"Connecting Community College Funding to Workforce Outcomes: An Assessment of the National Landscape," is an academic article that examines which states have collected workforce data on graduates or exiters of two-year postsecondary institutions, and the relationship between the funding of those institutions and outcomes as measured by employment and earnings. Researchers also reviewed whether attempts were made to link funding to performance. The report concludes with recommendations for state higher education leaders to follow when developing budgets that tie funding to workforce outcomes.

George Washington University scholars conducted this research for the North Carolina Community College System.
